Pair of oceanic war clubs from the Fiji Islands. Both with fine dark brown wood with slender shaft leading to a massive head fashioned from the burl and roots of a tree. Each clubs measure 17 and sixteen inches long. To see a similar example to to Sotheby's Important Tribal Art sale on Monday May 5 1997 lot number 329

Early Indonesian native figure carved from a solid block of teak wood. This antique wood carving was brought out of Indonesia over 25 years ago. Dates to the 18th or early 19th century. Measures 37 inches high by 17 inches wide and 6 inches thick. Original weathered patina.

Fiji Islands chiefs war club made from root stock. Fine example for collectors of oceania. Only chiefs of substantial wealth could own large root clubs with decoration. This club measures 44 inches long and has a spiraling band of incised alternation triangles. It retains its varied fine deep brown old patina.
