Pair of oceanic war clubs from the Fiji Islands. Both with fine dark brown wood with slender shaft leading to a massive head fashioned from the burl and roots of a tree. Fiji Islands chiefs war club made from root stock. Fine example for collectors of oceania. Only chiefs of substantial wealth could own large root clubs with decoration. This club measures 44 inches long and has a spiraling band of incised alternation triangles. It retains its varied fine deep brown old patina.
